Week 8 Term 4
Dear Parents and Carers
As we approach the end of a busy but wonderful year for our school community, I would like to share some important updates and events with you.
Our Community Council have been busy organising our Summer Disco, which will be held this Sunday, 8th December, from 4:30 - 5:30 PM at the St Gregory’s Hall. Tickets are available until Thursday 3pm through Qkr! Parents/carers are asked to stay onsite, so can enjoy a catchup and BBQ for a quick and easy dinner from 4 pm.
Year 1, 2, and 3 students have enjoyed several sessions transitioning to the Year 2, 3, and 4 classrooms this term, which has been a valuable experience for them. On Tuesday, 17th December, we will have our annual Step-Up afternoon for all Kinder –Yr 5. This afternoon provides students with a chance to “Step up” to their new class and meet their new teacher for 2025. It is important for us to see change as a normal and natural part of our lives. Ensure you talk positively about the possibilities of a new class, new teacher and potentially some new friends, while still playing with friends not in their class.
Next week, Kindergarten and Year 1 will tell the story of the Nativity at our GIFT Assembly. This GIFT will be held at St Raphael's Church on Friday, 13th December. Due to space constraints, there will be two GIFT presentations:
9:30am for Year 2-6 students, Year 2-6 Principal Awards, Sport Awards.
1:00pm for Kindergarten/Year 1 parents/carers, Kindergarten and Year 1 Principal Awards.
The new play area at Lowe Street is due to open this week! We thank all our families who have supported various fundraising events through the years, like the Lap-a-thon, discos, Trivia Nights, and BBQs to raise funds for this new play space. The Community Council is now building funds for works at Macquoid St.
As the season of Advent begins and we start to prepare for the birth of Jesus, let us pause and focus on the true meaning of this season. Our Glee and Singing Clubs will perform at Heritage Queanbeyan Aged Care Facility on 10th December, which is sure to put smiles on the resident’s faces.
O God, open our hearts to prepare the way for the coming of Christ.
Guide us in your ways of compassion so that we may
extend your love and mercy to all people.
Lord Jesus, we await your coming.
Have a blessed week.
Warm regards,
Tiffany Reedy
